These four recordings were made during the period between Sammy's Capitol and Decca recording contracts, due to Sammy's burgeoning popularity. A single was released on an independent label called DDR which was specifically set up to distribute recordings by Sammy, but all four performances did not see the light of day until they were released on a Design LP in 1957 alongside six songs by Joya Sherrill. This was not a duet album and Sherrill's recordings were made separately.

Davis was brought in to add heel dancing to this recording when the initial recordings using Dan Dailey didn't work out. It is unlikely the grumbled asides in Spanish heard are also Davis. He does not sing.
